New game: build a robot and send it over a 3D obstacle course
· version v18
Robot Course is a new 3D game: kids build a robot from wheels, tracks or legs within a budget and test it on steps, gaps, ramps, bridges and tunnels.
Have you seen the videos where toy robots try to climb steps and cross gaps? Now kids can build their own. Robot Course is our new 3D game.
Build in the workshop
Pick a drive (small or big wheels, tracks, four legs, a six-legged spider or stilts), a chassis, a motor and extras like steering, an edge sensor or a tail support. Every part costs coins, and each level has a budget. The robot spins on a turntable while you build it.
Test on the course
Send the robot over the obstacles: a step, a gap, a peg field, a ramp, a table edge, a low tunnel, a narrow bridge and a sprint. Every obstacle is its own test worth 1 point, half a point or nothing, with a scoreboard just like in the videos. The robot climbs, slides back, tips over or falls into the gap, and every result explains why: "Too short for the 8 cm gap. Try a longer chassis?"
What kids learn
How engineers work: build, test, improve. Kids learn about grip, power-to-weight, stability, dimensions and sensors, and why different drives are good at different things. The first level comes with a ready-made robot, and in the final there is exactly one perfect build. Great from age 9.
