New: Online Safety course and a live Class Quiz
ยท version v2
Kids learn strong passwords, spotting scams and private profiles in 10 new levels, and teachers can run a live Class Quiz with over 240 questions.
Two big additions today: a second course for ages 11โ14 and a quiz that gets the whole class excited.
Online Safety: 10 new levels
In the Online Safety course Hexo becomes a security robot, and kids program his safety chip. They learn by doing, not by reading rules:
- build passwords from blocks and watch a meter show how long a computer would need to crack them
- discover why a passphrase of random words beats a short password with odd symbols
- hunt for the signs of phishing in a fake prize email
- spot fake website addresses like *paypa1* and *yuotube*
- program if โฆ then safety rules for real situations: a stranger asking for a password, a "you won a prize" message, bullying in chat
- sort what is OK to share and what must stay private
- put the steps of two-step verification in the right order
- lock down a social media profile and see what a stranger can still see
The final challenge covers meeting online friends, blackmail, embarrassing photos and fake parcel texts, and reminds kids that they can always tell an adult they trust. As in every course, the first three levels are free.
Class Quiz: the whole class competes live
Teachers can now start a Class Quiz from the class page. The projector shows the question, students answer on their own devices, and faster correct answers earn more points. After every question the class sees the answers and the leaderboard, and at the end a podium and a review of which questions were hardest.
- over 240 questions on the web, online safety, cyber security, networks, logic and Python
- two levels: ages 11โ14 and ages 15โ17
- choose the number of questions, the time to answer and the topics
- students in the class join with one click, guests with the quiz code and a nickname
- questions from recent quizzes are not repeated
The Class Quiz is included in all plans and in the free 30-day trial.
